Friends Bring Warmth to Chilly Day

Pedals & Petals

A chilly day did not deter supporters with sunny dispositions and bright smiles from coming to Creekside Park for the 47th annual Pedals & Petals event on Saturday, May 2.

Throughout the day, roughly 100 people came to bike and walk the park path and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, which included pulled pork sandwiches and all-beef hot dogs.

The inventors of the AlterCycle had their bicycle on display, which was the grand prize for the participant who raised the most donations.

Friends from Moody Radio Grand Rapids were on-site to share their ministry, talk with participants, and offer free giveaways.

Many people enjoyed shopping for spring flowers. In addition to purchasing beautiful baskets, bushes, flats, and bulbs on Saturday, some supporters shopped early at Porter Street Petals, a pre-sale held on Friday in the office parking lot.

Participants raised money through traditional methods as well as by creating a personalized, online fundraising page. All funds raised help Grand Rapids Right to Life with programs and projects that foster respect for all human life.

Volunteers worked tirelessly all week in preparation and on the day of the event. They cheerfully helped with set-up, food preparation, the flower sale, and children’s activities.

Pedals & Petals was sponsored by AlterCycles; John Nowak, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Advisor; Van Dyken Mechanical; Lenhart’s Lawn & Landscape; Palumbo & Associates; Micron Manufacturing Company; Thomas Flickinger, Summit Law; John J. Oleck, Realtor, Berkshire Hathaway; Moody Radio Grand Rapids; and Holy Family Radio.
