A Cautionary Tale

In November 2023, Michigan Senate Democrats proposed Physician Assisted Suicide Bills. Although these bills were not brought to the floor for a vote, they would have allowed medical providers to assist their patients with committing suicide by prescribing lethal drugs.

Not to be deterred, in April 2026, Michigan House Democrats introduced a “Death with Dignity” bill package that would allow doctors to prescribe life-ending medication to terminally ill patients.

Amid the threat of assisted suicide in Michigan, all are welcome to a free town hall gathering that will feature amazing speakers, who will unpack the realities of physician-assisted suicide and the growing concerns for vulnerable communities in Michigan.

Guest Speakers

Lisa K. Gigliotti, Esq. is a bioethics law professor and disability advocate. She has authored several books that explore the fears and values society places on the end of life and people with disabilities. She maintains a fulfilling life despite two debilitating illnesses, achieving successful legal and policy careers.

Genevieve Marnon is the legislative director and senior policy advisor for Right to Life of Michigan. She works with legislators, policy staff, and stakeholders to implement life-affirming policies in the state. Her legislative work consists of proposing bills and amendments, testifying in committee, and helping legislators understand and develop messaging around bills.

Dr. Kristin Collier is an associate professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she serves as the director of the university’s Medical School Program on Health, Spirituality, and Religion. Her academic interests center on human dignity and how this concept grounds moral obligations at the margins of life.
