Join our TeamGrand Rapids Right to Life is hiring a Prolife Ambassador to join our hard-working, energetic, prolife team!

 

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Increase the number of West Michigan conservative Christian adults that actively engage with the mission of Grand Rapids Right to Life. This includes increasing the amount of engagement of those same West Michigan conservative Christians.

CONSTRUCTS OF ROLE
Full-time salaried position reporting to Laura Alexandria, Director of Operations, Grand Rapids Right to Life. Expected to be out working in the community the majority of the time with a home base at Grand Rapids Right to Life’s office at 2340 Porter Street SW in Wyoming.

PROFILE OF CANDIDATE
Experienced person who is self-driven in creating approaches to accomplish their mission and executing on them.  Not afraid to try things, make mistakes, and learn from them.  While self-driven also an open collaborator with the Director of Operations, other staff members, the Grand Rapids Right to Life Board of Directors, and the staff of Right to Life of Michigan.  Has a passion for Grand Rapids Right to Life’s mission.  Has experience working for churches or other mission-based organizations.  Is all about wanting to make something happen by educating and breaking down the barriers people naturally have to actively help a cause.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Activate our target cohort, conservative Christians in West Michigan. This role is not focused on reaching the opposition nor the people who are apathetic or ignorant regarding our cause.

Create approaches and execute on them to actively engage our target cohort.

Educate, motivate, and build people’s confidence and comfort to do things such as:

  • have conversations and educate others on right to life issues and efforts;
  • call / write legislators, senators, congressmen, governor, and locally elected officials;
  • make election supporting phone calls;
  • distribute prolife information at the polls;
  • stand in Life Chain and #ProtestPP Rallies as a family;
  • pray in front of abortion clinics;
  • volunteer for office tasks; and
  • donate money to and become a member of Grand Rapids Right to Life.

You will accomplish target cohort activation by:

Building and forming relationships with other organizations, parishes, pastors, and other church staff (Youth Minister, Director of Religious Education, Activities Director, etc.).

Attending events that our target cohort attends.

Engaging in strategies that you can build from, such as:

  • speaking at church general education events or faith study programs;
  • speaking at the beginning / end of church services;
  • running a membership drive at a church;
  • blogging as part of Grand Rapids Right to Life’s online blog;
  • speaking on Christian and Catholic radio shows;
  • having a booth at community events; and
  • participating in any other crazy but practical approach that you can develop.

Running existing programs as a means to your mission, which includes but is not limited to High School Oratory Contest, Prolife Essay Contest, all youth scholarship programs, Coins for Kids fundraising drives, securing student volunteers for Grand Rapids Right to Life events.

Representing Grand Rapids Right to Life through speaking and teaching in local churches, schools, and at local events.

Working with the Director of Operations to communicate your plans, successes, failures to the Grand Rapids Right to Life Board of Directors.

Assisting the Director of Operations and Board of Directors in other areas of the mission where deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A member in good standing of a church.
  • A passionate supporter of Grand Rapids Right to Life’s mission.
  • 4+ years of experience working for a church or other mission-based organization.
  • Willing and able to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Engaging, self-assured, outgoing, articulate, organized, creator of plans and programs.
  • Enterprising, striving, adaptable, purposeful, not afraid to try things.
  • Have demonstrated effectiveness in prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • College graduate preferred or commensurate experience.
