3725 44th Street SW
January 22, 2020, marks the 47th anniversary of legalized abortion-on-demand in the United States. To honor and mourn the 60,000,000 lives lost to abortion since 1973, Grand Rapids Right to Life is sponsoring the annual Memorial Service for the Unborn.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Monica Migliorino Miller, founder and director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society. Miller is a prolife activist, veteran sidewalk counselor, author, and professor. In 2008, Dr. Miller discovered bio-hazard waste and the remains of aborted babies in abortion clinic trash containers that resulted in criminal charges being brought against the Woman Care abortion facilities. In 2011, she helped shut down the Woman’s Choice abortion clinics. Dr. Miller led the charge against the construction of the Planned Parenthood mega-clinic in Auburn Hills, which never opened..
A lyrical dance will be performed by Naomi Natte and Sophia Imhoff from Dance Dimensions.
Donations of diapers and baby wipes will be accepted and distributed to local pregnancy centers.
A freewill offering will be taken to help further the prolife outreach efforts of Grand Rapids Right to Life.
Sidewalk counselors in Grand Rapids estimate that 15 – 20 women enter the local abortion clinic on days when abortions are performed. The Michigan Department of Community Health reported in 2018 that 1,308 women from Kent County had abortions. More than 63% did not have any previous abortion, Almost 24% had one previous abortion, and almost 13% had two or more previous abortions.
Regarding the age of Kent County residents who procured an abortion in 2018, almost 10% were under the age of 20, more than 62% were aged 20 – 29, almost 26% were aged 30 – 39, and more than 2% were 40 years or older.
The memorial service is a time of prayer and remembrance.
