More than 125 people attended the annual Focus on Life Kick-Off Breakfast at Aquinas College on Tuesday, May 13.
Guest speaker Shauna Prewitt stunned the crowd with her powerful story.
As a college student, Prewitt became pregnant as the result of a sexual assault. She chose to continue her pregnancy and to raise her daughter, but was shocked to learn that her attacker wanted custody of her child. As a result, she has become an advocate for laws to terminate parental rights of rapists.
The emcee for the event was Right to Life of Michigan Legislative Director Ed Rivet. He spoke about the importance of fighting for prolife laws and not yielding to opponents who desire an exception for abortion due to rape.
