Congratulations to Nicholas DeNooy for winning the Prolife Essay Contest sponsored by Grand Rapids Right to Life. Nicholas won a $50 scholarship and his essay will be submitted to the National Right to Life contest.
In his essay on “Why Should Everyone Respect Life?” DeNooy wrote:
“Here in America everyone has the right to life … except unborn children. Who truly believes this makes any sense? Our Declaration of Independence recognizes our unalienable rights to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Why is America ignoring its Declaration, for which the Founding Fathers fought and died, by making the unborn an exception to life?”
Anna Zondervan placed second and won a $25 scholarship. In her essay she wrote:
“There are approximately 125,000 abortions a day. Every time an unborn child is murdered by way of abortion, his or her part is finished. Think of all the opportunities that child could’ve had.”
