Youth Rally Focuses on Fathers

LifeFest Youth RallyNearly sixty local teens, youth ministers, and parents attended the fall LifeFest youth rally held on Sunday, October 18, at The Edge Urban Fellowship.

The evening opened with a performance by the Willing to Wait drama team, sponsored by Pregnancy Resource Center. Their entertaining, but also thought-provoking, skits demonstrated that making healthy choices may be difficult in the moment, but well worth it in the long term.

Matt Haviland, founder of A Father’s Walk, a ministry for single dads, was the keynote speaker for the event.

Haviland gave his personal testimony of recovering from a life of promiscuity, alcoholism, and drug addiction. He revealed that when young men and women do not have strong male role models in their lives, they often fall into destructive behavior patterns like he did. Haviland also shared the negative impact abortion has on men, who are often forgotten in conversations about abortion.

Student coordinator Erin Karlovich concluded the evening by sharing facts about men’s lack of rights in their partners’ abortion decisions and talking about Post-Abortion Syndrome.

Attendees also enjoyed free giveaways, a prize drawing, and information on how to become more involved in the prolife movement.
