Grand Rapids Right to Life hosted a Pastors’ Breakfast at Sunshine Community Church on Tuesday, April 19.
The guest speaker, Randy Hekman, talked about “The Spiritual Roots of Abortion.” Hekman has served as a judge, a pastor, and executive director of Children’s Bible Hour Ministries. He was the founding director of the Michigan Family Forum and currently is the executive director of The Grand Awakening.
Hekman addressed the crowd of more than 70 people with a strong message about the need to be prolife personally, spiritually, and politically. He encouraged Christians to express their views by being present at the polls and voting.
With humorous stories, Hekman related how he had not been completely open to the gift of life in his marriage until he let God determine how many children he and his wife ought to have. He talked about the need for people to view children as a blessing; in their families and in their congregations.
More than 35 churches were represented at this event, which included an opening prayer by Rev. Joshua Blunt, Sunshine Community Church; an update from Grand Rapids Right to Life on how the organization can support the prolife efforts of ministers in local churches; and a closing prayer by Dr. Joel Beeke, Heritage Reformed Church.
