“Alison’s Choice” Crowd Fills 2 Theaters

Grand Rapids Right to Life sponsored a private, one-night-only screening of the prolife film Alison’s Choice at Celebration! Cinema Woodland on February 9. Almost 250 people attended this sold-out event, and the cinema received so much interest that they opened a second theater for the evening.

When Alison finds herself pregnant and her boyfriend unsupportive, she schedules an abortion, feeling it is her only choice. Once at the clinic, she encounters a variety of individuals, all of whom attempt to influence Alison’s decision. One man in particular, a compassionate janitor, seems to have a special connection with Alison — and her baby girl.

Alison’s Choice depicts the interior struggle of a young girl in crisis. The film takes place almost exclusively during the crucial hours before her abortion appointment, allowing the audience to follow along with Alison’s emotional journey. Although the movie’s message is clearly about the value of every life, the clinic workers also receive plenty of screen time to make their case for abortion. Alison’s Choice truly is about the choice Alison has to make.

Fr. Michael Nassar, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, attended the screening and commented, “What a great night for our church! Many of our parishioners filled the one theater — and others were in the overflow theater. All were very moved by Allison’s Choice. This is a film everyone needs to see, especially our young people who are so vulnerable to the lies they are told about the true, destructive nature of abortion.”

Before the movie, attendees had an opportunity to visit the Grand Rapids Right to Life display and to pick-up prolife information, buttons, and concession stand coupons.

Afterward, guests lingered in the lobby for almost an hour, visiting and discussing the film.
