Film Producer Speaks at Benefit Dinner

Gosnell author and film producer Ann McElhinney addressed almost 1,000 people at the 30th annual Focus on Life Benefit Dinner on Monday, October 9. Despite the difficult topic of abortion, her talk was humorous, inspirational, and described as “a breath of fresh air” by many in attendance.

McElhinney produced the film Gosnell to shed light on the heinous crimes of abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who was convicted in 2013 of first-degree murder for killing three infants who were born alive.  Although he received multiple life sentences with no possibility of parole, McElhinney described in detail how the media ignored his actions, his trial, and the terrible suffering of his victims.

Special guest Anna VanKoevering, a senior at Libertas Christian High School, performed a beautiful rendition of the national anthem.

A highlight of the evening was a presentation by Susan Palazzolo, president of Grand Rapids Right to Life, explaining all of the work accomplished by the organization in the past year.

Casey Jones, WOOD TV Daybreak anchor, was the emcee and shared a touching story of a family adoption.

The evening was a fundraiser for the Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund. Many dignitaries, prolife legislators, local judges, and Bishop David Walkowiak were in attendance for this evening of championing the prolife cause.
