People Rally to Defund Abortion Giant

It is past time to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider. On April 28, 2018, #ProtestPP organized the third annual National Day of Prayer and Protest against Planned Parenthood and Grand Rapids Right to Life sponsored the local rally.

This coordinated effort saw roughly 100 people in Grand Rapids and thousands of people across the country protesting in front of more than 140 Planned Parenthood locations.

The need to fully defund Planned Parenthood of all federal tax dollars — about $430 million annually — has stalled in Congress.  The rallies were an effort to get Washington leaders to revise Title X family planning rules to block Planned Parenthood as a recipient and to deprive them of some $60 – 80 million annually.

Although Planned Parenthood claims that American women rely on them for healthcare, in reality, four out of five women will never set foot in one of their centers. Planned Parenthood also provides less than 2% of manual breast exams, less than 1% of annual pap tests, and zero mammograms. They have, however, captured 35% of the U.S. abortion market.

#ProtestPP is a coalition of more than 75 national, state, and local organizations, including Grand Rapids Right to Life.
