LifeFest Rallies Teens for Life

The annual LifeFest Youth Rally was off to an exciting start as local students flooded through the doors of The Edge Urban Fellowship on Sunday, October 7, expecting to be inspired and encouraged to take a bold stand for life.

The evening began with a stirring video on indifference. The 7-minute short film passionately explained why everyone must value the vulnerable.

Next, Cassidy Shooltz, student trailblazer, shared a story about “William,” a precious little boy lost to abortion earlier this fall. Cassidy challenged students to evaluate their personal response to the tragedy of abortion.

At the climax of the evening, Ryan Waalkes, executive director of Bridge Street House of Prayer, shared a message on the sacred value of every human life.

Students from Sacred Heart Academy, Sunshine Community Church, and West Catholic High School later chimed in for the Q&A session. One student inquired of the speaker about how one may respond to the abortion issue in the situation of rape. Ryan responded about the importance of helping rape victims find healing and community, and that even in situations of rape or incest, the unborn baby is indeed a person worthy of protection.

Every student was also entered in a fun giveaway, with items from Grand Rapids Right to Life and Right to Life of Michigan, given to three thrilled students.
