Sidewalk Counselors Speak at Memorial

The Memorial Service for the Unborn on Sunday, January 13, honored and mourned the 59,000,000 children killed since 1973, when abortion was legalized in all 50 states.

More than 150 people listened to stories from sidewalk counselors Leisa Snow and Mary Zandstra.  They shared personal accounts of sadness and hope as they spoke about their experiences reaching out in love to women and men entering Heritage Clinic for Women, the only surgical abortion facility in Grand Rapids

Music was provided by the combined choirs of Our Lady of Consolation Parish, under the direction of Mary Harkema, and St. Paul the Apostle Parish, under the direction of Michael Miller.  Beautiful solo work has performed by Tami Hjelm, who sang I Will Carry You.

The opening reflection was given by Rev. Peter Damian, pastor at St. Paul the Apostle Parish.  Grand Rapids Right to Life board member Ingrid Bergsma closed the memorial in prayer.
