After a week of rain and gloomy weather, the clouds parted and a beautiful day greeted the hundred or so people who participated in the landmark 40th annual Bike & Hike Festival for Life on Saturday, May 4.
In addition to biking and walking the path through Johnson Park, participants enjoyed a free picnic lunch, live entertainment, face painting, sidewalk chalking, and a children’s play area.
Volunteers helped make the day possible by assisting with set-up, food preparation, the flower sale, and children’s activities.
Throughout the park, educational signs were placed offering fun facts about fetal development, the bond between a mother and her child, and the fact that every single person is unique and special.
Many people shopped for baskets, bushes, trees, and flats in the Spring Plant Sale, which was made possible due to generous donations from area greenhouses.
This family-friendly event was sponsored by Van Manen Petroleum Group, John J. Oleck, Associate Broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Serv-U-Success, and Michael Tarach.
