Wilson Wins Leadership Award

Javen Wilson
Javen Wilson, a senior at The Potter’s House High School, was awarded the 2023 DJ Zarnosky Life Leadership Award for his tireless and exemplary involvement over the past four years with Grand Rapids Right to Life.
Wilson received a $1,000 scholarship for exhibiting outstanding leadership in the prolife movement.
During his high school years, Wilson volunteered at Pedals & Petals, helped with the Holiday Auction, was an usher at several Focus on Life Benefit Dinners, and was active in efforts to defeat Proposal 3 in 2022.
When considering how his prolife beliefs will help shape his future goals, Wilson stated that they have taught him “respect for others, and this will guide me in the work force and in serving my community.”
Wilson plans to become an HVAC Technician by pursuing studies at Grand Rapids Community College or entering an internship in the near future.
This award is named to honor the memory of Dennis Joseph Zarnosky, who died in a tragic car accident in 2000. DJ was only 16 when he died; however, he was always a passionate supporter of life and was determined to make a difference in the world.
Steve and Sandy Zarnosky, DJ’s parents, were blessed by his life and they continue to be enriched and encouraged by memories of his spirit and by the young award recipients who are carrying on his legacy of commitment to the prolife movement.
