The sixth annual Spring into Life event was attended by more than 140 supporters, who experienced Nicholas DeSanto’s edgy, pro-life comedy routine.
Spring into Life, a gathering designed to grow the local pro-life movement, was held on Thursday, April 16, at the elegant Noto’s Old World Italian Restaurant. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour, dinner, and a counter-cultural comedy set by Italian-born and London-based comedian Nicholas DeSanto.
DeSanto’s humor covered topics such as dating in a gender-confused world, political observations, and how being pro-life is more important that killing a child for convenience or career advancement.
Nicholas De Santo worked for BBC World Service, believing he could promote the values of the free, civilized West. Once disenchanted with the globalist media agenda, he created conservative stand-up comedy routines, which meant that the BBC, and subsequent employers, forced him to resign. He was even banned from various comedy clubs in London.
In 2023, his pro-life set in London went viral on YouTube, garnering more than one million views. DeSanto continues to defend conservative and Christian values as a stand-up comedian and a panelist on the London-based GB News TV channel.
Harry Koops, senior pastor of Eighth Reformed Church, opened the event with humor, prayer, and a reminder of the sanctity of all human life.
Laura Alexandria, president, gave a brief overview of how Grand Rapids Right to Life works with, but is separate from, Right to Life of Michigan. Alexandria shared the accomplishments of the local organization; offering student scholarships, supporting pregnancy care centers, hosting networking luncheons for pro-life agencies, promoting educational resources for churches, and placing more than one million digital ads annually to help women facing an unplanned pregnancy make the hopeful, courageous choice for life.
Josh Volk, committee chairman and emcee, closed the event by encouraging people to connect with Grand Rapids Right to Life and to get involved with the mission to help moms and save babies.
Following the event, attendees had an opportunity to purchase pro-life items, learn more about Grand Rapids Right to Life, and interact with Nicholas DeSanto.
