Melissa Ohden: Her Story
August 30, 2025 @ 6:15 pm – 7:30 pm

There is a side to the horror of abortion that is rarely discussed. Melissa Ohden’s life is marked by her survival of a failed saline infusion abortion. At this powerful event, she will share her story, which is so much more than one of survival.
“I don’t believe God originally wrote abortion into my life, as God is the Creator of Life,” Ohden explained. “But when it was introduced by man, or in my case, a woman, He rewrote the story of my life around it, to create the story of a life that is more intricate, more redemptive, more grace-filled, than anything anyone else could have planned or written.”
Ohden’s testimony speaks to the beauty of God’s grace, the power of love, and the hope and healing that can occur in the midst of grief and loss.
Melissa’s Story
In August of 1977, Melissa’s biological mother, a nineteen-year-old college student named Ruth, had a saline infusion abortion forced upon her by her mother, a prominent nurse in the community. Melissa soaked in a toxic solution for five days as the abortionist tried time and time again to induce Ruth’s labor.
When Melissa was finally expelled from the womb, her arrival into this world was not so much a birth, but an accident; a “live birth” after a failed abortion. Melissa’s message to a mom considering abortion is that there is always hope, even after an attempted abortion.
